May 19 (Bloomberg) -- Brazil and Peru signed an agreement on the construction of a hydropower plant in Peru, newswire Efe reported, citing Brazilian Energy Minister Edison Lobao.
The 3,400-megawatt plant will ``very probably'' start to be built next year by a Brazilian company affiliated with Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA, Brazil's state-controlled electricity utility, and by a Peruvian company, Lobao said, according to Efe.
Brazil and Peru also signed an agreement for the construction of another 14 hydropower plants in Peru, which will generate electricity for export to Brazil, Efe said.
