SAO PAULO, Feb 12 (Reuters) - Brazil's benchmark stock index surged 3.3 percent on Tuesday after news of a plan by billionaire investor Warren Buffett to assume liabilities of troubled bond insurers pushed global markets higher.
The Bovespa index .BVSP of the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange rose to 62,649.74 points from Monday's close of 60,643.22. (Reporting by Elzio Barreto; Editing by James Dalgleish)
